We are a registered Scottish charity of healthcare professionals adopting a public-health approach to violence reduction because we believe prevention is better than cure.
Affiliated with the University of Glasgow, our Student Society welcomes students from all areas of healthcare and justice.
The Medics Against Violence Student Society has been relaunched in 2019 and is affiliated with the University of Glasgow’s Student Representative Council.
MAVSS welcomes students from all healthcare related courses, not just medicine, dentistry and nursing, but related courses including forensic medicine and science, law, social science and other students with an interest in preventing violence.
The society holds independent events and works with MAV to involve students in MAV events and activities, such as meet and greets, fundraisers, conferences as well as accompanying our professional volunteers during school visits. All of these are great for experience, and for the CV!
Rory Maciver is a fifth year dental student at the University of Glasgow and the president of the MAV Student Society.
